As the popular saying goes, “before you speak, think.”
And “think” stands for…
T – is it TRUE?
H – is it HONEST?
I – is it INSPIRING?
N – is it NECESSARY?
K – is it KIND?
I really like that saying and how it can help you THINK about what you are saying. Well, since my mom is a homeschooling mom she has always loved print-outs and posters – things we can put up on the wall (and she seems to have passed that on to me). So, a while back I decided to make a spread for the wall. I pulled up a Word document on the computer and typed out each of the letters on their own sheet of paper with it’s question (is it true? etc.) in smaller print on the bottom. I also gave each letter its own color. After that I typed out some verses to go along with the “THINK” saying…
Ephesians 4:29, 31, 32 – “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Another one I want to add is Philippians 4:8 – “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
It was a fun project! I will say, though, I might redo it and laminate the sheets. After a few years they start to get a little wrinkly!
Have fun with it, play with it, and put your own touch to it! If you do, I would love to see it! Take a picture and share it on my Facebook Page!
